Description of location
The well-known tourist town of Morro Jable is located in the municipality of Pájara, the most southern of the six municipalities of Fuerteventura, most of which is located on the Jandía peninsula, adjoining Betancuria to the north and Tuineje to the northeast. The municipality is formed by the following villages: Morro Jable, Costa Calma, Solana Matorral, La Lajita, Pájara, Ezquinzo, La Pared, Piedras Caidas, Toto, Ajuy, Cardon, Mal Nombre, Punta Jandía and Chilegua. The administrative centre of the municipality in Pájara is quite prosperous due to the income from the tourist centres from Costa Calma to Morro Jable.
Morro Jable is originally a fishing village, the centre of which lies in a valley between two rocky hills and gradually expands. Behind the western hill is the harbour, where the ferry to Gran Canaria runs daily. To the east of Morro Jable, the tourist area stretches along several kilometres of fine sandy beach, where wonderful and sunny days can be spent on the Atlantic.
